Rea Magnet Wire was honored to be highlighted in Business View Magazine‘s safety and sustainability feature in May 2018.
2018 is an important year for Rea Magnet Wire, celebrating its 85th anniversary as a distinguished manufacturer and supplier to the motor, automotive, and transformer industries. The company was founded in 1933 and remained under private ownership until 1960, when it was purchased by Alcoa. In
1985, a group of managers purchased Rea Magnet Wire taking the company private, returning the organization to its family-owned, privately-held roots.
Today, the company has close to 900 employees, with corporate headquarters in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and five manufacturing plants in Fort Wayne and Lafayette, Indiana; Ashland, Virginia; Monterrey, Mexico; and Guilford, Connecticut. Rea Magnet Wire has also operated a joint venture in China since 2002, comprised of four facilities spread out over three cities. Acquisitions have played a significant role in the company’s growth. Its largest was the 2006 acquisition of Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Company, with the manufacturing locations in Fort Wayne and Monterey.
Recently, Business View Magazine spoke with Rea Magnet Wire representatives Eric Bilinski (Director of Customer Experience), Lew Tutton (Corporate Environmental Director), and Brian Bolinger (Director of Corporate Health & Safety) about the importance of safety and sustainability in this dynamic company.
